The gigantic building dominates the area around Place Louise and the Sablon. It is truly gargantuan.
Built between 1860-80 it is said to be the biggest building constructed in the world in that particular century. It’s pretty massive in any century, to be honest.
It sist atop what was named the "gallows hill" in the Middle Ages, for obvious reasons. Nowadays it is Belgium's supreme court of law.
For those who think size really does matter, the palais is 105 metres high and covers a total surface area of 24,000 square meters. Big enough? We think so.
